New Vintage 70s Custom Davis Hats Big Cattleman 10X BEAVER Tan 7-1/8 Stetson
Heres a great 1970s Custom made Davis Hats 10X Beaver Tan Classic cowboy hat, size 7-1/8+ (slightly larger than an exact 7-1/8 by 1/8 of an inch). Please look at the pictures! Its in really excellent new condition and that custom shape is definitely going to stand out and be noticed! Its a real Cowboy look! Yes we wrote Stetson because most folks still dont realize that there still Custom Hat shops like Davis Hats that make the best hat in America, past and present.
These custom hats are now the best hats made and far surpass any of the HATCO made hats today! HATCO bought bought all of the best hat companies years ago, like Stetson, Resistol, etcHATCO does NOT make hat like the original companies did!Davis Hats is located in Albuquerque New Mexico and still makes custom hats today. They still use the beaver purity scale that only goes to 100, pure beaver. Not the crazy 1000X thats used by Stetson and Resistol and others. Also this is NOT a hardshell!
This is a soft shell so it is easily shaped and cleaned without wearing off the beaver. Again these custom hat companies are getting harder and harder to find. So if you ever find one, go there and see how hats used to be made in the Good Old Days! Just to name a couple of the stores dads bought hats like this and his favorite is Powder River and SHUDDE Brothers. These companies are still around too. Dad bought this hat many years ago and its been stored in that vintage BEAVER BRAND 1970s hat box. The box still has its original inserts and is in very good condition. The 10X Beaver is extremely soft and thick! Its in perfect condition too!Its a real beauty, its the original classic cowboy shape and that vintage 10X Beaver is thick and soft too. These older hats can be shaped and reshaped into many styles!
And it doesnt take a pro to do it either! Just lots of steam and hand manipulation will shape the hat. This is NOT a possible with the newer HARD SHELL hats. Also these old soft shells are easily stretched to one size larger.
We actually measure each hat 3 times to verify the size, whether tagged or not. This is tagged at 7-1/8 and measures 22-4/8 (22-1/2 inches) which is 1/8 of an inch larger than an exact 7-1/8. As dad and I are looking at the hat, we are disagreeing on the color. Dad says its a light taupe color and i say its silverbelly. The pictures of the topside reflect the color really well. If you have an opinion on the color please write to us. Size 7-1/8+ or 57.5 or 22-1/2 inches. Width 14 inches, widest part of the hat, as is not flattened out. Matching Crown string band 3/8 of an inche. The Resistol box is very big! If you have any question please write. Dad seems to know quite a bit about this hat.
